ILGA–North America and the Caribbean is a regional federation of LGBTQIA+ organisations in the English-speaking Caribbean, Canada, and the United States. We work to advance equality, dignity, and human rights for LGBTQIA+ people through advocacy, solidarity, and capacity building.
About the Project
We are commissioning a short-term research consultancy to produce a 12–15 page report on the economic and employment realities of LGBTQIA+ people in our region. The research will explore:
- Employment patterns and sectors
- Workplace discrimination and protections
- Entrepreneurship and barriers to finance
- Intersectional factors (gender identity, race, disability, migration)
- Comparative insights from Canada and the U.S.
- Policy and advocacy opportunities
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct desk research and literature review
- Interview 10–15 LGBTQIA+ workers, entrepreneurs, activists, or union representatives
- Analyse and synthesise findings into a 12–15 page report and 1-page advocacy brief
- Provide input for social media content based on findings
Consultant Profile
- Proven qualitative and/or mixed-methods research experience
- Understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues in the Caribbean, Canada, and/or U.S.
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to working with marginalised communities
- Familiarity with economic justice or labour market issues (asset)
Contract Details
- Duration: Approx. 3 months (start September 15, 2025)
- Fee: €1,500 (inclusive of all taxes and expenses)
- Location: Remote
