Together in Community:ILGA-NAC’s 2025 Year-End Reflections
Warm Wishes for a Restful Season and a Purposeful New Year
As 2025 draws to a close, ILGA – North America and the Caribbean extends deep gratitude to the organizations, activists, partners, and communities across our region and beyond who continue to move our collective work forward. This year has challenged us and reminded us of the urgency of coordinated strategic action, yet it has also shown the undeniable strength of solidarity and community-led leadership.
Across the Caribbean, Canada and the United States 2SLGBTQIA+ people continue to navigate criminalisation, discrimination, violence, and an alarming rise in anti-rights organizing. However, in every space where oppression shows up, so do our communities; organizing, advocating, caring, creating, resisting, and imagining new futures grounded in dignity and justice.
This year, together we:
- Advanced human rights through national, regional and international advocacy efforts.
- Strengthened queer and trans leadership across diverse communities and contexts.
- Bolstered cross-border solidarity through partnerships with organizations within our region and beyond.
- Launched and advanced critical regional research, including the Pathways survey and the Economic and Employment Realities Study, ensuring our movements have the evidence needed to influence policy and philanthropic priorities.
- Convened spaces for reflection and strategy — from webinars on movement sustainability to member touchpoints and consultations — helping shape a shared regional agenda.
- Amplified the voices of those most impacted: migrants, youth, trans and non-binary people, sex workers, and those living at multiple intersections of marginalisation.
- Held governments accountable and inspired policy conversations that center human rights, equity, and lived experience.
The road ahead will require courage, clarity, and collaboration. But we also know that our network is resilient; strengthened by activists who refuse to give up, communities who keep showing up, and partners who continue to stand in unwavering solidarity with our movements.
On behalf of the entire ILGA-NAC family we thank you for being part of this powerful regional community. Your work matters. Your leadership matters. Your voice matters. Together, we will continue shaping a region where 2SLGBTQIA+ people can live free, safe, visible, and proud.

In solidarity,
ILGA-NAC
